Philosophy of Self
Scattered around the internet are digital monuments to my failed online existence. Social media accounts floating around in the cyberspace, haunting a server space with the vague threat of “just wait until Hannah finally comes back and figures this thing out”.
Drifting away from social media is less a noble choice for me as it is a necessary one. I only have so much time, so much energy, and the investment required to maintain a digital life is not as important to maintaining my physical one. I’m only just now learning how to do push-ups, which I’ll have you know are harder than some calculus problems.
Perhaps one day I’ll join you on Blurbie, FastTalk, or whatever the new way of casting a bottle into the ocean humans come up with. Perhaps those monuments will always stand, flickering in 1’s and 0’s, waiting for some digital archivist to read over and cringe.
For now, I’m happy to keep my digital presence quiet and understated. I’m happy to maintain this portfolio and to keep up with my friends accomplishments on LinkedIn. I’m happy to laugh at old photos of myself that range from blurry to ridiculous to just plain candid. And I’m happy to welcome you into my life, through LinkedIn, email, or good ole fashioned carrier pigeon.
